New strain spiked infection in C’garh: Doc
As Covid cases surge in Chhattisgarh, experts claimed the rise is because of the Andhra strain (N440K). The new strain of Covid-19 is more infectious and faster transmissible, said Dr Anil Jain, President of Hospital Board Raipur and Indian Medical Association - Raipur Chapter. Notably, a month ago five samples sent to the central virology lab detected a new strain n-440K also known as Andhra strain.
Lockdown in Raipur
To bend the pandemic curve in the state, the district administration has announced complete lockdown in the city. District Collector S Bharti Dasan said that except grocer y shops, all the outlets will remain closed on Sunday. The state recorded over 12,239 cases on Saturday.
