NIA conducts raids in Valley, 70 detained
NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out raids at 16 locations across Kashmir Valley in two cases — ISIS voice of Hind case and TRF case. The raids were on at 9 locations in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Baramulla as part of its probe. Several stone pelters and anti-India elements were detained and questioned, sources said.
As many as 70 youths have been detained in Srinagar and a total of 570 people have been detained across Kashmir in the past 2-3 days. The crackdown on anti-India elements by security forces took place after the terror attacks on minorities 3 days ago.
2 TRF ‘operatives’ nabbed The NIA arrested 2 ‘operatives’ of The Resistance Front, a shadow outfit of banned LeT, which has claimed responsibility for a spate of targeted civilian killings.
4 terror aides arrested
Police on Sunday said a TRF module was busted and 4 terror associates involved in the conspiracy behind the killing of Mohammad Shafi Lone last week were arrested in Bandipore.
40 teachers summoned
The NIA summoned 40 teachers in civilian target killings in Srinagar, the investigation of which the agency has formally taken over from the local police. Top IB officials, including Tapan Deka, the head of counterterrorism wing, are in Srinagar on the directions of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, the National Conference suffered a setback in Jammu on Sunday as two prominent leaders Devender Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia resigned from the party on Sunday.
