BCCI extends dates for tender document

MUMBAI: The BCCI on Wednesday extended the deadline for purchasing the tender document for the new Indian Premier League (IPL) teams by another 10 days till October 20 and reliable sources said that the two new franchisee­s would not cost less than Rs 3500 crore each. The Governing Council of the IPL had issued the 'Invitation to Tender' (ITT) document on payment of the non-refundable tender fee of Rs 10 lakh on August 31.

Eddings resigns as CA chairman ahead of AGM

MELBOURNE: Earl Eddings on Wednesday stepped down as Cricket Australia chairman after losing support from several states and Richard Freudenste­in was given the role of interim chief ahead of the sports body's AGM on Thursday. The developmen­t comes less than a month after Eddings, who took over as interim chairman in 2018, was unanimousl­y endorsed by the CA Board to serve a second term. Eddings came into the picture when David Peever resigned in the wake of CA's cultural review following the ball-tampering episode at Cape Town in 2018.

England to take the knee at T20 WC: Jordan

LONDON: England fast bowler Chris Jordan says his teammates are considerin­g taking a knee before the start of their T20 World Cup opener against the West Indies, who have confirmed to repeat the anti-racism gesture on October 23. The last time England players took a knee was in August 2020 when they clashed with Ireland in an ODI and their decision to stop doing it was criticised by West Indies great and antiracism campaigner Michael Holding.

Narine will not be included in WI's squad

DUBAI: West Indies limited-overs captain Kieron Pollard has categorica­lly said that all-rounder Sunil Narine will not be added to the 15-member squad of the two-time ICC World T20 champions despite his all-round performanc­e for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing season. However, Pollard said that Narine would not be included in the squad on the basis of his performanc­e in the IPL, barring injury or illness to any player.

Rashid picks Kohli, Pandya in his top-five list

DUBAI: Afghanista­n star Rashid Khan has named India captain Virat Kohli and all-rounder Hardik Pandya among his top-five T20 players in the world, saying the two are capable of winning matches for their team from any position and irrespecti­ve of conditions.
