Man scoots with courier firm’s bag containing goods worth Rs 52k

The police have arrested the accused and have also seized a motorcycle stolen from Mumbai

The Kasarvadav­li police have arrested a 20-year-old man for robbing a bag of an online shopping app from a delivery boy. The police have also seized a motorcycle stolen from Mumbai city.

The police said the complainan­t works with Future Travels and Logistics Private Limited, while the victim works as a delivery boy with Amazon.

The incident took place on October 9 at 9.20 am. The victim had electronic­s gadgets and other products in his bag which were to be delivered. A police official said he went to deliver one of the parcels at the gate of Delight Society on Ghodbunder Road in Thane, even as the bag loaded with parcels was kept on his motorcycle. The bag contained 62 items, including electronic goods, home appliances and clothes.

The delivery boy Akhtar Pathan approached the police and registered a case under section 379 (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police then scanned CCTV cameras and activated their local network of informers. They received a tip-off about the accused and arrested him from Thane.

The police said the arrested accused has been identified as Karan Gada, 20, a resident of Dombivali.

A police official said, “We have seized goods worth Rs 30,218 and a stolen Activa two-wheeler from him. Gada has around seven cases registered against him across Mumbai and Thane. The two-wheeler was robbed from Pydhonie police station in Mumbai.”
