State hikes compounding fees for traffic offences

The Maharashtra government has hiked the compounding fees for traffic offences. This would mean motorists flouting traffic norms will now have to pay more. Officials from the Maharashtra transport department said the hike will help bring down accidents and ensure traffic discipline. The compounding fees has been hiked to Rs 500 for the first offence and Rs 1,500 for the second offence and thereafter. -
