Liverpool win Merseyside derby

Mohamed Salah's double helped Liverpool to an emphatic 4-1 Merseyside derby win over Everton, their biggest in the Premier League at Goodison Park.

The visitors almost struck twice in the opening two minutes, with Joel Matip heading wide and Salah shooting over from close range.

Their pressure eventually told as Jordan Henderson exquisitel­y curled the ball into the bottom corner to open the scoring after nine minutes before Salah beat the advancing Jordan Pickford with a fine finish to make it 20 10 minutes later.

Demarai Gray then slotted

the ball beneath Alisson to halve the deficit before halftime.

Salah ran the length of the Everton half to score his 13th goal of the season on 64 minutes, before Diogo Jota's quick turn and powerful finish completed the scoring with 11 minutes remaining.

Despite recording a third straight league victory Liverpool

stay third on 31 points, two behind leaders Chelsea. Everton remain 14th on 15 points.

Chelsea stay top

At the Vicarage Road, goals by Mason Mount and Hakim Ziyech earned Chelsea a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Watford to remain top of the Premier League table.

Watford made a bright start before play was stopped due to a medical emergency in the crowd, with the supporter involved stabilised before play resumed.

Mount then shot against a post before the midfielder opened the scoring in the 29th minute, finding the bottom corner after being teed up by Kai Havertz.

Watford responded well and they levelled when Emmanuel Dennis rounded off a swift counter-attack with a low shot on 43 minutes.
