NGO, Thane cops educate students

The Thane police along with the Maharashtr­a cyber cell and an NGO is creating awareness about cyber safety and security by street play across different colleges and students. The move was done to curb the rising cyber cases in the city.

As the new generation is more tech-savvy, cases of cyber cheating have risen in the past few years. However, it has become a compulsion to create awareness about cyber security and alertness.

To train people to be alert from such fraudsters, the NGO Quick heal foundation is conducting street plays to pass the message.

Under the guidance of Gaurav Nimkar and Yogesh Shete, the head of Yog Events are organizing the program on behalf of a quick heal foundation. A team of youngsters doing street plays and creating awareness among citizens about "Cyber teaching for Cyber Security".

The awareness program with street play was started in November 2021 and to date, the group has organized and held around 72 programs across different schools and colleges from Thane to Badlapur.

"Not only the students, but the team had received a good response from the management and teachers. Lakhs of citizens are using the internet and social media."

"They post their personal details on social networking sites. But are not aware whom it is reaching and who will notice it. However, using the personal details the cyber fraudster cheats citizens. However, citizens should carefully use the social media platform," added Nimkar, one of the proprietor­s of Yog events.

He added that people should approach the police and use the social media platform carefully without

sharing any personal informatio­n.

"While using online transactio­ns the shared one-time password should not be shared and kept secret. While taking a selfie don't click an HD quality picture. Click a simple picture so that it's not misused. Order online clothes and food carefully. Also, the bank doesn't ask you for a KYC during the calls. Don't fall prey to such unknown calls or schemes. Living a simple life is better than earning faster," he said.
