Nayak, Santosh Thakur to lead Press body

NEW DELHI: Shilong Times’s CK Nayak was on Sunday elected the president and Navbharat deputy editor Santosh Thakur the general secretary of the Press Associatio­n, the only associatio­n of accredited journalist­s in India to lead the national media to safeguard the freedom of the Press. The 10-member body has the responsibi­lity to fight for the rights of the media. Its importance lies in its recognitio­n by the Government of India, in providing it an office in its National Media Centre of the Press Informatio­n Bureau in Delhi.
