Kolkata

- ARITRA SINGHA /

TMC-BJP slugfest remained unabated over ‘outsider’ tag after Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty appealed to people to vote for BJP Asansol candidate Agnimitra Paul. In a video, Chakraborty claimed Agnimitra is ‘daughter’ of Asansol and she will help to uplift the status of the people. Without naming actor and TMC candidate Shatrughan Sinha, Chakraborty said Sinha is an ‘outsider’.

“Agnimitra always keeps the promises and maintains relationships. She is the daughter of Asansol and if she is voted to power she will definitely take care of the people,” said the actorturned-politician.

Countering Chakraborty, TMC state general secretary and spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said nobody likes Chakraborty’s speech and no one will pay ‘heed’ to it.

“During 2021 Assembly polls people have not only rejected Mithun Chakraborty’s speech but also BJP. So this time also people of Asansol will reject BJP,” said Ghosh. Now, Left starts ‘party ke bolo’: In keeping with TMCs ‘Didi ke Bolo’ (tell Didi) programme, Muhammad Salim after becoming the state secretary of the CPI(M) to start ‘party ke bolo’ (tell it to party) programme.

Sources said under this programme, the CPI(M) campaigns against alleged disproportionate assets of Trinamool Congress leaders.

“The aim of this programme is to unmask the TMC leaders and expose their corruption. This programme will be digitally monitored and hard copies of the forms where the data is to be filled are also publicly available,” said a CPI(M) cadre, requesting anonymity.

Meanwhile, TMC Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal was again summoned by CBI on April 6 in the cattle scam.
