The Vishnunagar police in Dombivali have arrested two persons from Surat and Vadodara in Gujarat for cheating two persons from Dombivali. The accused offered attractive returns on investments and later blackmailed people and threatened them by posting their nude photos on social media, said senior inspector Pandharinath Bhalerao.

Those arrested have been identified as Anil Sambayya Peduri, 31, and Kundan Mishri Shah, 24.

Bhalerao said, “Two years ago, a 31-year-old complainant, a resident of Himalaya

Ashish Society, Dombivali West, was approached by Peduri and was asked to invest in a scheme offering lucrative returns. The person invested Rs 4.5 lakh through Robot Trade. He, however, neither got the returns nor the amount invested. When he called up Peduri, he gave evasive replies, following which a complaint was lodged with us.”

The police then traced Peduri through his mobile location. A team of sub-inspector Kuldeep More, constable K ABhamre, and others were sent to Surat to arrest him.

Another person from Vadodara created a fake social media account of a woman, who is a resident of Subhash Road in Dombivali West. He received the mobile number of woman through the fake account and started blackmailing her by posting her nude photo on a social media site. The police traced his residence in Halola locality in Narayan Nagar, Vadodara. He was identified as Kundan.

On the orders of deputy commissioner of police Sachin Gunjal and assistant commissioner of police JD More, a team of Vishnunagar Police went to Vadodara under the guidance of Bhalerao and arrested Kundan.
