The Punjab police which has detained over 20 persons since Monday and quizzed many, arrested late Tuesday night, one Nishan Singh from Amritsar on the charges of giving logistic support to the two suspects who fired a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) at the Punjab police’s intelligen­ce headquarte­rs in Mohali on May 9 night.

Meanwhile, the police also recovered a Russian-made RPG-22 launcher from the bushes on the old Sohana road about a km from the intel HQ. The police said that they were informed about it by an old woman rag picker.

It may also be recalled that the Punjab police is suspecting gangster-turn-Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda as the mastermind behind the blast.

Haryana to form anti-terror squad

Chandigarh: Days after a major terror plot was foiled in Haryana, the state government announced that an anti-terrorist squad will be constitute­d in the state. Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij today said that the squad will monitor the activities of terrorists and anti-social elements. "Given the recent attack on the headquarte­rs of Intelligen­ce Department in Mohali (Punjab) and Karnal, there is a need to strengthen the security of the state," Vij said.

CCTV GRAB

According to police, he allegedly sheltered two other accused in Amritsar for three days before the RPG attack on May 9 on state’s intel headquarte­rs in sector 77, Mohali.

In another important developmen­t, the police have also managed to get a 38-second CCTV footage and currently analysing it.

The footage shows a white car crossing by the intelligen­ce HQ in sector 77, Mohali and an explosion is seen as the car approaches the fivestorey HQ.
