Actor Ali Asgar is a popular face in the television world. He has won hearts with his stand-up comedy performances on several comedy talk shows. The actor is currently participating in the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa season 10.

For the show, Ali will be seen in his popular avatar of Dadi from The Kapil Sharma Show. Talking about it, he says, “This dance zone is something I have never done before. You may have seen me on The Kapil Sharma Show, but it was just done in masti. This image is heavy. I want to get out of this.”

Revealing the reason behind giving his nod for the reality show, he shares, “I was eager to perform Rishi Kapoor’s number and hence I joined the dance reality show. I wanted to perform on any of Rishi ji’s

songs. I want to dance on a song by Mehmood saab, Hum Kale Hain to Kya Hua.

I’m not sure if they’ll let me dance to these dream songs of mine.”

Ali also opens up about being typecast. “I am refusing TV serials because I am getting this kind of a role only. I don’t wish to be typecast. Our fraternity should understand that if they don’t offer us different roles, then how will we be able to bring the different sides of our craft? I have done some various characters, which you will know after some time,” he says.

His family has been an important part and support system in his journey. “I have done my education in catering technology and I wanted to go to Texas as a chef. My family was never dependent on me financially, so they did not want to leave me. Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii was my landmark show and from 2009 till date comedy has been my forte,” he opines.

Of late, the actor has been seen much on television. “Because I feel I have been repetitive and want to do something I have never done. As an actor, I have done cult shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii for eight years. Somehow, the pressure of comedy has been too much on me. But I am sure one day a show or a film will break that image,” he explains.

When quizzed about whether he will rejoin The Kapil Sharma Show, he shares, “I have not had any communication for the last five years. We have not had any fights. But I felt the masala in my character had finished. There was a creative difference and I had told them, ‘Dadi ke role mein mujhe dobara mat lana.’ I will not be able to bring any newness to it. Irony: I am playing Dadi in again.”
