CM CHALLENGES KCR FOR DEBATE IN ASSEMBLY
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday threw a challenge to BRS supremo and former CM KCR, BRS legislators KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, K Kavita to participate in a debate in the Legislature on the Irrigation projects and allocation of river waters to the state issues.
Addressing a media conference here CM Revanth lashed out at the BRS leaders especially KTR, Harish Rao and Kavita for telling lies and propagating falsehood against the Congress on the issue. “KTR, Harish are covering up their sins and trying to put blame on the Congress on river water sharing and allocation issue.”
The CM has made it abundantly clear that it was KCR who accepted to hand over the management of Krishna and Godavari water distribution to the state when the united AP was bifurcated. “The foundation to entrust the Centre with the irrigation projects was laid when KCR was the MP. KCR instead of raising an objection, he voted in support and helped it to be passed in the Parliament. The entire responsibility for this rests with KCR and Dr K Keshav Rao. KCR is the first reason for this Act,” the CM said.
The Centre discussed with both the CMs on the distribution of 811 TMC. The Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) was held on June 18, 2015. At the meeting it was decided that 299 TMC would be given to Andhra Pradesh state and 311 to Telangana State. Both KCR and Harish signed on the agreement. They have done injustice to the state by not demanding 50 per cent share. Krishna River flows 68 per cent in Telangana and 32 per cent in AP. As per the international Water guidelines, Telangana should be allocated more than 500 TMC and the rest for AP.”KCR is the crook who gave more water share to AP at the cost of Telangana state,” the CM remaked.
In 2022 KRMB meeting, KCR agreed to hand over 15 Projects to the Centre. On 19 May 2023, KCR admitted that the projects were handed over to the Centre at the 17 th KRMB meeting. In 2023 Annual Budget, Rs 400 Crore was allotted to Krishna River Management Board.
In 2004, TRS was part of the Congress alliance at the Centre. When it was decided to increase the Pothireddy Padu capacity, both Harish Rao, Nayani Narasimha Reddy were ministers and KCR was minister at the Centre. When the Congress government under Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy was illegally supplying water to Potireddypadu, it was Telangana Congress leaders P Janardhan
Reddy, Marri
KCR at Pragathi Bhavan on Jan 14, 2020 and reviewed Krishna water issue. In the meeting, KCR gave a green signal to allow AP to take 8 TMC water on a daily basis through Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme. In father Dr YSR regime, 4 TMC per day water was taken to Rayalaseema region, under son Jagan’s regime 8 TMC per day. Instead of stopping the tender for supplying of the water, KCR wrote a letter to the KRMB to postpone the meeting to help the Tenders floated by AP. KCR allowed AP take water due to his thirst for making money.
KCR was responsible for this water loot,” CM Revanth said.
KCR could not complete the SLBC project in ten years. Irrigation projects were neglected in Telangana state for the past ten years more than the negligence that took place in united AP. For ten long years, Palamur Rangareddy LI Project was kept in cold storage. \
KCR promissed to complete the project in 2 years and did not do it even in ten years. After coming so many sins, now the BRS leaders are talking about people’s movements. People will shoe them away if they make such statements. “We are fighting for Telangana rights in the river waters, but both KTR and Harish, Uncle-Nephew duo are trying to blame the Congress.”
The CM said he is throwing an open challenge to KCR that he and his BRS leaders, which include his family members, should come an indepth depth debate on the matter. We will allocate two days of session to discuss the irrigation projects issue including
the river water sharing. If need be, we will extend the Legislature Session. KCR, KTR, Harish, Kavita should participate. We will give them an opportunity to speak. We will not cut the mikes not even for a minute. Let us bring the fact out. This will clear about who cheated Telangana state? Who robbed the State?” Revanth said.
AP CM Jagan held 6 hour meeting with KCR at Pragathi Bhavan on Jan 14, 2020 and reviewed Krishna water issue.
