RailTel gets civic hosp info mgmt mega order
To digitise the recordkeeping system at the civicrun hospitals, the BMC has placed an order of Rs351.95 crore, excluding GST, with RailTel for the implementation of Healthcare Management Information System (HMIS). The public sector undertaking (PSU) under the ministry of railways will be responsible for supply, installation, testing, commissioning, operations and maintenance of HMIS for a five-year period. The execution timeline for the project is one year.
Under the project, 191 dispensaries, 30 maternity homes, 16 peripheral hospitals, five specialty hospitals and dental facilities with medical colleges and major hospitals will be covered. A web portal and mobile application will be launched for patients, hospitals and the BMC administration, which can be used to access relevant data in an instant.
“The order was received by RailTel in consortium with Sterlite Technologies Ltd. The HMIS is an integrated clinical information system
with the basic objective of improved hospital administration and patient healthcare,” said the spokesperson of RailTel. The HMIS' roll out will ensure a unique and improved experience to hospital administration and patients, she added.
The project foresees a significant transformation in healthcare administration by seamlessly linking patient care, diagnostic facilities and drug inventory management. The initiative aims to interconnect all the BMC hospitals. RailTel further said that HMIS will help doctors in faster delivery of service, while administrators will be able to make better decisions with the help of data.
