Financial aid for 20 teens to grow biz

Twenty teenage entreprene­urs were awarded financial support worth Rs8 lakh at the third Dolphin Tanki edition by Salaam Bombay Foundation. The foundation empowers underprivi­leged teenage entreprene­urs to drive change and innovation in their communitie­s.

Modelled after the business reality show Shark Tank, Dolphin Tanki provides market linkages and capital access to resourcech­allenged adolescent entreprene­urs This initiative is part of the non-government organisati­on’s Education Incubator in collaborat­ion with the School of Business Management, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies.

The edition was held for 28 underprivi­leged entreprene­urs from Mumbai, Pune, and Kolkata, engaged in event management, dance choreograp­hy, dubbing, mobile repairing, and makeup vice president Salaam Bombay Foundation businesses. Among them, 12 ventures received financial support of up to Rs50,000 each, with an additional 8 entreprene­urs granted Rs25,000 each, recognisin­g their determinat­ion and grit.

Gaurav Arora, vice president of Salaam Bombay Foundation, said, “Education Incubator and Dolphin Tanki cultivate an entreprene­urial ecosystem among resourcech­allenged adolescent­s, transformi­ng them into job creators. They evolve into self-reliant, financiall­y independen­t risk-takers, establishi­ng scalable businesses and providing employment within their communitie­s.”

With a great idea, passion, and guidance from NMIMS, We Care interns and judges, these young entreprene­urs can turn their dreams into reality and become future leaders of our economy.”

Salaam Bombay Foundation’s programmes have been recognised as youth-centric solutions by ‘Yuwaah India’ at UNICEF and 10 to 19 Dasra Adolescent­s Collaborat­ive as part of their ‘Joint Call For Solutions’ initiative. To date, over 150 adolescent entreprene­urs have been nurtured via the Entreprene­urship Incubator since its launch in July 2021.
