Not hit by train but killed: Father of accident victim

- AISHWARYA IYER / MUMBAI GRP have rejected the theory. They have pointed out the injuries on his body.

Almost a month after the death of a 21-year-old man, whose body was found on railway tracks, his father Arvind Parmar claimed that he wasn't hit by a train, instead murdered by his ‘friends’. However, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Wadala, rejected the theory. They pointed out that injuries on Mehul's body were from a train hit, as per the post mortem report.

According to the police, the body was found on tracks by railway personnel on February 21. Subsequently, an accidental death report (ADR) was registered and the body was sent to KEM Hospital for post mortem. On Monday, Arvind approached the Wadala GRP, alleging that Mehul was murdered by three people – Disha Khilare, Manoj and Puja. “On February 21, my son left home at around 9.30pm. He was accompanied by Disha Khilare and two more people. On the same day Mehul’s body was found on the tracks.” Earlier, Mehul had a fight with Disha and he was assaulted as well. The trio and Mehul had recurring fights over money matters, he added, alleging that the three of them were on the run. He continued, “My son didn’t die in a railway accident. In fact, he was murdered by them. I know my son was taken somewhere to Turbe on the same day, which means they had already planned to kill him.”

However, Wadala GRP senior Inspector Smita Dhakane rubbished all the claims. “The post mortem report suggested that the injuries on the body of the deceased were a result of a train hit. Hence, the cause of death is accidental in nature. We have verified the reports and based on the same, the ADR was registered.” Arvind contended that the injury marks indicate that Mehul was stabbed with a sharp weapon and hit by a stick or rod-like object.
