Auto expo sees over 60,000 visitors, strong sales

The recently concluded Surat Internatio­nal Auto Expo 2024 has been a resounding success, drawing in a massive crowd and generating significan­t sales for participat­ing automobile dealers.

Over the four-day event, a staggering 60,000 people thronged the Surat Internatio­nal Exhibition and Convention Centre, showcasing their keen interest in the latest offerings from the automotive industry.

This enthusiasm translated into immediate sales, with on-the-spot orders exceeding expectatio­ns. Dealers reported booking close to 200 twowheeler­s and a remarkable 100 cars during the Expo. Exhibitors witnessed a surge in genuine sales inquiries, with industry estimates suggesting a potential conversion rate of 10 per cent into confirmed bookings in the coming months.

The response from exhibitors mirrored the public's enthusiasm. Ramesh Vaghasia, president of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighte­d the "great response from the public" fueled by attractive offers, discounts, and special schemes presented by participat­ing brands. This diverse showcase encompasse­d a wide range of vehicles, including cars, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, auto accessorie­s, spare parts, and workshop machinery – essentiall­y a one-stop shop for everything automotive.

Expo 2024, echoed the positive sentiment. He reported that some car and two-wheeler exhibitors witnessed a windfall, receiving on-the-spot bookings ranging from 8 to 10 vehicles each.

The final tally for the Expo reveals a robust performanc­e: over 100 passenger cars, more than 200 two-wheelers, and approximat­ely 20 commercial vehicles were sold directly at the event.

The success wasn't limited to immediate sales. Inquiries across various segments promised a future windfall for exhibitors. In the fourwheele­r segment, premium brands like BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, JLR, Kia, and others witnessed strong interest, generating inquiries ranging from 180 to 500 for their stalls. Establishe­d names like Toyota, Hyundai, Tata, Skoda, and Mini Cooper also attracted significan­t attention.

The two-wheeler segment mirrored this trend. Popular brands like Yamaha, TVS, Hero, Honda, Suzuki, and even electric scooter manufactur­ers like Joy Bike, Thrimp, and the revived Chetak brand saw high inquiry numbers, ranging from 150 to 400 for their respective stalls.
