Poll machinery to be vigilant against influencing voters : EVDM Director
As the Election Commission announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls, a training programme was organised for the flying squad and statistics surveillance teams at the conference hall of the GHMC headquarters here on Tuesday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management ( EVDM) wing Director N Prakash Reddy said the flying squad and statistics surveillance teams should not only perform the election duties properly, but also be vigilant against influencing voters.

Speaking on the occasion, EVDM Director N Prakash Reddy said the rules of the Election Commission should be strictly followed and all the parties and candidates should be treated with equanimity in accordance with the rules.
"If the election staff are negligent towards election duties, they will have to face strict action. Special attention should be given to the distribution of cash, liquor and other goods that may tempt the voters. All the members, who are assigned the election duties, should respond immediately to the complaints of violations of the code of conduct of the election and confirm the facts through field inspection and take appropriate action," he disclosed.
Prakash Reddy further stated that the surveillance teams have been formed to work 24 hours a day in three shifts in each Assembly segment in the district so that the surveillance teams are constantly vigilant and keep a watch on the election expenditure and campaign pattern.
The PTG cameras with latest technology have been installed in the vehicles provided to the Flying Squad teams. Similarly, GPS tracking will be available. Through these, it is suggested that the performance of the surveillance teams will be monitored by the control room and the duties should be performed efficiently in accordance with the rules, he informed.
The EVDM Director suggested that the flying squad teams should reach there within 15 minutes of receiving complaints through the CWhistle app and complaints received through the C-Whistle app should be resolved within 100 minutes.
During inspections, the teams should act with restraint so as not to cause problems to the general public, video coverage should be done in cases of confiscation of cash and receipts must be provided. At the same time, the people should be informed that there is an option to release the cash by showing sufficient evidence. The surveillance teams should play an active role in election expenditure, campaign pattern and temptations, he added.
