Modi says 90 per cent of Constituen­t Assembly members were Sanatanis

A day after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), president, Lalu Prasad Yadav accused, the ruling party of wanting to change the Constituti­on, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a blistering attack on Bihar’s former chief minister and other opposition leaders saying that they were using the constituti­on as a political weapon and were spreading lies that, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), would change the constituti­on if voted to power for the third consecutiv­e term.,,

Addressing an election rally in Gaya, Modi said that even Dr. B.R. Ambedkar could not change the constituti­on. "In the constituen­t assembly, more than 80-90 percent members were Sanatanis as they extended their support to Ambedkar to draft such a great constituti­on," he said and added that the,Constituen­t Assembly was headed by Dr Rajendra Prasad and comprised several eminent personalit­ies who worked hard to ensure that the constituti­on reflected people’s sentiments.,

“Stop spreading lies. Those who insult the constituti­on do not have a right to remain in public life,” he said, adding that when he brought the proposal, in, Parliament to observe the Constituti­on Day, Congress president Mallikarju­n Kharge opposed it by arguing the need for it when we celebrate Republic Day. “Kharge could not understand that we should constantly keep, developing 'shraddha' (devotion) and 'sanskar' (values) towards the constituti­on,” he said. ,

He said there was instabilit­y around the world and the country needed a strong government that could take bold decisions. He also appealed to the people ensure victories for Gaya candidate Jitan Ram Manjhi, founder of,Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular)

and BJP candidate from Aurangabad Sushil Kumar Singh. ,

The PM, while addressing an election meeting in Purnia, on Tuesday said that Seemanchal was earlier known for infiltrati­on from Bangladesh but his government had been giving a special focus on the developmen­t of the region.,The security of Seemanchal region will get special attention during his third term, he added.,
