HC for quicker Faizan death probe SC to hear plea against Naidu’s bail Custodial death: Haryana to respond Unitech head’s bail plea dismissed

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has heard a petition filed by Kismatun, the mother of the deceased Faizan, who is seeking a court-monitored Special Investigat­ion Team (SIT) probe into her son's death. In a video that surfaced on social media, Faizan was seen being beaten up by the police and forced to sing the national anthem and 'Vande Mataram' along with four Muslim men. Kismatun has alleged that the police illegally detained her son and denied him crucial medical care, which led to his death on February 26, 2020, after he was released.

The Supreme Court will hear on May 7 a plea filed by the Andhra Pradesh government challengin­g a high court order granting regular bail to TDP chief N Chandrabab­u Naidu in the skill developmen­t corporatio­n scam case. The petition came up for hearing on Tuesday before a bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal which noted the counsel for the state has said they have filed an interlocut­ory applicatio­n (IA) in the matter. It observed the said applicatio­n does not appear to be part of the record.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea seeking registrati­on of a criminal case against police officials in whose custody a 32-year-old man had died in 2013 in Haryana's Faridabad district. A bench of justices Sudhanshu Dhulia and PB Varale has issued notice to the Haryana government and the state's director general of police on the plea filed by Anand Rai Kaushik, the brother of the deceased. It has listed the matter for further hearing on July 26.

A Delhi court has dismissed default bail pleas of Unitech's former promoters, Sanjay Chandra and Ajay Chandra, in a money laundering case relating to cheating of multiple homebuyers of several crore rupees. The Enforcemen­t Directorat­e had recorded the case in 2018 based on over 60 FIRs registered against the accused for various offences, including cheating, criminal conspiracy, taking undue advantage by influencin­g public servant, bribing public servant, etc.
