2nd pistol, bullets found in Tapi river

A day after recovering a pistol used to fire outside actor Salman Khan's house from the Tapi river in Gujarat, the Mumbai Crime Branch has yet another weapon, three magazines and 13 live bullets from the waters. The duo accused – Sagar

Pal, 21, and Vicky Gupta, 24, who acted at the behest of the Bishnoi gang – allegedly dumped both the pistols into the river after the April 14 shooting.

A 12-member team from the Crime Branch Unit 9, led by 'encounter specialist' Daya Nayak, had nabbed the duo in Surat on April 16. They confessed to the whereabout­s of the discarded weapons. The team then took Gupta near the river and recovered one pistol on Monday, with assistance of a special marine team and local police. Additional­ly, a broken mobile phone was found in Mata No Madh near Bhuj town, Gujarat, where the accused had been hiding. A senior police official said that the Bishnoi brothers, Lawrence and Anmol, have been declared wanted based on substantia­l evidence against them. According to police, Gupta was found in possession of a pistol loaded with five rounds, which he did not discharge. They had conducted recces of Khan's Galaxy Apartment in Bandra and even made a round to the actor's farmhouse in Panvel. After the shooting, the duo escaped on a motorcycle, but were arrested on April 16 in Gujarat through a joint effort of the Mumbai and Kutch police. Hailing from Bihar, the duo is currently in the Crime Branch's custody until April 25. Lawrence is incarcerat­ed at the Sabarmati Central Prison for another offence, while his brother is suspected to be residing in either Canada or the United States.
