Shah: If Oppn wins, entire country will have jungle raj
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday alleged the entire country would become victim of ‘jungle raj’ if the opposition INDIA bloc of which RJD was a part, formed a government at the Centre.
At a rally in Ujiarpur
Lok Sabha constituency in Samastipur in favour of
Union MoS for Home Nityanand Rai, Shah claimed Bihar had witnessed ‘jungle raj’ during the RJD regime.
“Since Lalu’s RJD is a part of opposition ‘INDI’ alliance, a similar ‘jungle raj’ like situation would prevail across the country if opposition alliance was voted to power at the Centre,” he remarked.
Accusing Congress of being anti-backward and also opposed to their reservation, the BJP leader said reservations were given to Muslims in Karnataka and Andhra by respective state governments. The reservations would be abolished in the two states after BJP would come to power there. He alleged the
Congress government in Karnataka provided 5 per cent reservation to Muslims overnight by slashing reservation quotas of the OBCs and that too without conducting any survey. A similar policy was adopted by the Andhra government where Muslims were given 4 per cent reservation by cutting into reservation quotas of backward classes.
“Giving reservation on the basis of religion is against the constitutional norms. There is no such provision in the Constitution,” he said, adding all such steps were taken by Congress governments keeping the vote bank in mind.
He alleged RJD chief Lalu Prasad and his son and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav were sitting in the lap of the Congress, which had opposed reservation to the backward classes.
He referred to the Kaka Kalelkar Commission report and put the Mandal Commission’s recommendations on reservation into cold storage.
