Jabalpur man scripted robbery to get pregnant wife killed

A woman who was strangled to death during a robbery on Saturday late night turned out to be a contract killing planned none other than by her husband as she had come to know about his extra-marital affair. The incident took place at village Mohania under the Madhotal police station area in Jabalpur on Saturday night.

The late night so-called robbery which left the pregnant woman dead and her husband injured had shocked the Jabalpur city. The woman’s husband had scripted the robbery and arranged contract killing of his six-month pregnant wife Reshma Choudhary, said the police on Monday. The contract to execute the woman’s murder was fixed at Rs 60,000, the man had given Rs 20,000 in advance.

According to the police, primarily the woman’s husband and key accused Shubham Choudhary, a resident of Kajarwara of Barela area, tried to mislead the police by presenting the incident as a robbery but during the investigation, police got to know that Shubham with his three accomplices killed his wife as she was dead against his extra marital affair. Police have arrested Shubham and his three accomplices who allegedly killed the woman during a fabricated robbery bid.

Police said, following the incident, Shubham had filed a complaint. The police also scanned through the CCTV footage but it did not match with Shubham's narration of the incident. The police said that during investigation they found contradictions in Shubham's statement after which, family circumstances, and his call history details were scrutinized and we got to know about his relations with the woman. On being strictly interrogated, Shubham spilled the beans and confessed to his crime, said police.

Shubham told police that he was having an extra marital affair with a woman for the last many years and his wife had come to know about it. His wife was pressuring him to end his relationship with the other woman and this had led to marital discord between the couple. As his wife was not budging, Shubham decided to get get rid of his wife.

Shubham gave the contract to three of his aides Parhlad Gond, Anurag Kushwaha and Sibbu Choudhary to his wife . The deal was finalised in Rs 60000 and Rs 20,000 were given in advance. Shubham, along with his three aides strangled Reshma and made it look like a robbery

Earlier, the accused Shubham had framed a story that he and her wife along with their 1.5-year-old child were going to her wife's maternal home at Mother Teresa Nagar on Saturday in a car when the four accused, who were on two motorcycles, started pelting stones at Madhotal area.
