ICC and Cricket West Indies ensures vigilant measures

In light of recent reports regarding a potential terror threat to the Men's T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) have doubled down on their commitment to safeguarding the tournament.

Trinidad & Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has acknowledged the threat, emphasising the ever-present need for heightened security in today's global landscape. Despite the inherent challenges posed by evolving security threats, Rowley reassured the public that regional security agencies are maintaining a vigilant watch.

In a collaborative effort, the ICC and CWI have issued a joint statement, providing stakeholders with the assurance that comprehensive security measures are firmly in place. They highlighted their ongoing partnership with host countries and continuous evaluation of global security dynamics to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators. With the tournament set to unfold across nine venues spanning the West Indies and the USA, the organizers remain resolute in their prioritisation of safety.

Furthermore, Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), echoed the sentiment, emphasising that the responsibility for security arrangements lies with the respective host boards. Shukla reiterated the unwavering commitment to taking all necessary precautions to uphold the safety of players and fans alike. Notably, the participation of the Indian team hinges on receiving approval from the Central government, underscoring the importance placed on security protocols.
