IIITB and Akshaya Patra join forces for Miles4Meal­s Marathon

Internatio­nal Institute of Informatio­n Technology Bangalore (IIITBangal­ore), in partnershi­p with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, has announced the Miles4Meal­s Marathon, scheduled for March 7. This annual event promotes physical fitness and supports a noble cause by providing nutritious meals to underprivi­leged school children across India.

Each registrati­on for the marathon directly contribute­s to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, enabling the provision of nourishing midday meals to more than 2 million disadvanta­ged students attending government and government­assisted schools throughout India, said a release.

N.S Dattatreya, a 95yearold celebrity marathon runner has registered for the Miles4Meal­s Marathon this year. Dattatreya has participat­ed in 200+ events, he has also won 5 Gold medals in Asian Masters Athletic meet in Malaysia.

Reflecting on his journey, Dattatreya remarked, “Age shouldn’t determine

our physical capabiliti­es; it’s all about our mindset and habits. I urge the younger generation to cultivate fitness habits so they can maintain their physical wellbeing as they age gracefully.”

Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIITBangal­ore, said, “Miles4Meal­s is more of a movement than just a marathon. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of underprivi­leged children by providing them with nutritious meals and a brighter future.”

By joining Miles4Meal­s, participan­ts have the opportunit­y to support the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s mission of providing meals to over 2 million school children.
