IIITB and Akshaya Patra join forces for Miles4Meals Marathon
International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITBangalore), in partnership with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, has announced the Miles4Meals Marathon, scheduled for March 7. This annual event promotes physical fitness and supports a noble cause by providing nutritious meals to underprivileged school children across India.
Each registration for the marathon directly contributes to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, enabling the provision of nourishing midday meals to more than 2 million disadvantaged students attending government and governmentassisted schools throughout India, said a release.
N.S Dattatreya, a 95yearold celebrity marathon runner has registered for the Miles4Meals Marathon this year. Dattatreya has participated in 200+ events, he has also won 5 Gold medals in Asian Masters Athletic meet in Malaysia.
Reflecting on his journey, Dattatreya remarked, “Age shouldn’t determine
our physical capabilities; it’s all about our mindset and habits. I urge the younger generation to cultivate fitness habits so they can maintain their physical wellbeing as they age gracefully.”
Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIITBangalore, said, “Miles4Meals is more of a movement than just a marathon. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of underprivileged children by providing them with nutritious meals and a brighter future.”
By joining Miles4Meals, participants have the opportunity to support the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s mission of providing meals to over 2 million school children.
