Software asks Asian man to ‘open eyes’ for passport photo

Facial recognition software in Kiwi country, it is time you put your robotic foot in your mouth. A man of Asian descent failed to get his passport renewed online in New Zealand because the facial recognition software kept telling him that his photograph was invalid. It insisted that he ‘open his eyes’, despite the fact that they were wide open. Richard Lee though has laughed the matter off, in a Facebook post: “No hard feelings on my part, I’ve always had very small eyes and facial recognition technology is relatively new and unsophisticated.”
