IIM-C sees 100% place­ment

The In­dian In­sti­tute of Man­age­ment-Cal­cutta (IIM-C) has se­cured 100-per cent place­ment for its 54th batch of PGP pro­gramme, com­pris­ing 441 stu­dents in less than two days. The in­sti­tute re­ceived a to­tal of 501 of­fers, trans­lat­ing to 15 per cent of the batch re­ceiv­ing more than one of­fer.

The av­er­age CTC was ₹25.36 lakh per an­num, a rise of 5 per cent over last year. While 29 per cent of the can­di­dates ac­cepted of­fers in con­sult­ing, 21 per cent ac­cepted roles in fi­nance, said a press state­ment is­sued by IIM-C. The me­dian salary was ₹23.5 lakh per an­num, al­most ₹1.5 lakh per an­num higher com­pared to last year.

The in­sti­tute at­trib­uted the brisk place­ments to an amal­gam of ini­tia­tives un­der­taken in the last year. “Some stu­dent vol­un­teers co-de­vel­oped a sched­ul­ing sys­tem with a Ban­ga­lore-based start-up aimed at in­creas­ing ef­fi­ciency and en­sur­ing max­imi­sa­tion of in­ter­face op­por­tu­ni­ties be­tween stu­dents and re­cruiters. Au­to­ma­tion has helped us," Prof Ab­hishek Goel, Chair­per­son, CDPO, said in the state­ment.

As many as 123 firms from di­verse sec­tors par­tic­i­pate d. Some of the ma­jor con­sult­ing firms such as AT Kear­ney, Bain & Co, The Bos­ton Con­sult­ing Group and McKin­sey & Co made of­fers in dou­ble-dig­its. Ac­cen­ture was the largest re­cruiter with 24 of­fers ac­cepted.

New age firms in e-com­merce, op­er­a­tions and prod­uct man­age­ment at­tracted nearly 16 per cent of the batch with 68 ac­cepted of­fers, the re­lease said. Gen­eral man­age­ment at­tracted 14 per cent of the batch, sales and mar­ket­ing 12 per cent, while an­a­lyt­ics of­fered 8 per cent of the jobs.
