The scheme required a central financial assistance of ₹34,000 crore. “We have now got an approval from the Finance Ministry for this scheme,” Singh told OUR BUREAU New Delhi, June 11 The Centre has reworked its sector wise target for achieving 175 GigaWatt of renewable energy generation capacity by 2022. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and Renewable Energy, RK Singh, said it has now been decided that the distinction between different forms of renewable energy (such as wind and solar) will not be taken into consideration while achieving the 175-GW renewable energy capacity generation goals till 2022. “We are not rigid about the mix (of different forms of renewable energy), there will be flexibility within the overall target,” Singh said. Singh was speaking after a meeting with energy ministers from renewable energy-rich States. Singh, however, did not elaborate on the reason for this revision. The Centre had initially set a goal of having 100 GW of solar power generation and 60 GW of wind power generation capacity in the overall 175 GW renewable energy generation capacity target to be achieved by 2022.
