Manmohan Singh to file papers for RS from Rajasthan
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will file his nomination papers for the bypoll to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan.
“The party has decided to nominate former PM Manmohan Singh from the State and he will be filing four sets of nominations here on Tuesday,” Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress president Sachin Pilot said.
The seat fell vacant after the death of BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Madan Lal Saini in June. Rajasthan has 10 Rajya Sabha seats.
The Congress has the majority in the State assembly and Singh (86) is likely to win the by-poll.
Veteran Congress leader Manmohan Singh was a member of the Upper House of Parliament from Assam for almost three decades.
