‘Only BJP can bring about a political change in State’
The BJP is the only party that can bring about a political change in Tamil Nadu, the party’s State president, K. Annamalai, said here on Sunday.
On actor and MNM founder Kamal Haasan’s decision to campaign for the DMKled alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Mr. Annamalai recalled how the former had launched the party stating he would usher in political change in the State. “While it is his decision to be a part of the DMK, his cadre had joined his party expecting it to be neutral. This shows the DMK’s influence. Those who want to see a change in the State must realise that only the BJP can do it...,” he said.
He further said that Mr. Haasan was an artist and it was sad that he should be entering the Rajya Sabha by joining hands with the DMK. “He would have received due recognition earlier had he been on the right side,” Mr. Annamalai said.
Politics entailed working 24 hours on all days of the week, he said, adding: “We should not expect actors to voice their views on every social issue.”
He stressed that the DMK was not a party for the common man, and it was the BJP that stood for the common man. “Only the BJP can give a corruptionfree government,” he added.
“The 2026 Assembly election is important and the 2024 Lok Sabha election is the basis for the change,” he said, adding that his party had “crossed the 25% vote share in Tamil Nadu and it would reflect in the elections”.
“My entire focus, and that of the party, is on the 2026 Assembly election. Tamil Nadu should be cleansed and it can be done only if I am here full time,” he added.
