DMK, Cong. will never succeed in developing State, says PM
Addressing a public meeting in Kanniyakumari, Modi says he will protect the culture of Tamil Nadu. INDIA bloc, comprising DMK and Congress, will only scam and loot the public, says Prime Minister
BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the INDIA bloc, comprising parties such as the DMK and the Congress, would never succeed in developing Tamil Nadu. “Their history is that of scams, and their policies are focused on coming to power to loot the public,” he said, at a public meeting in Kanniyakumari district.
Mr. Modi said that he was expecting to see a huge transformation in the State. “I am confident that the performance of the BJP in Tamil Nadu will break the arrogance of the INDIA bloc,” he said.
Akin to the BJP’s ‘Ekta (unity) Yatra’ from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir in 1991, this time, the route for the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ is from Kashmir to Kanniyakumari, he said. “Just as the people of Jammu and Kashmir rejected the party who dreamt of breaking the nation apart, the people of Tamil Nadu will also do the same,” he said.
Listing various infrastructure projects undertaken by the Centre such as the KanniyakumariThiruvananthapuram fourlane road; the MarthandamParvathipuram flyover; and the Narikulam bridge, he said that past governments had kept these projects on hold for years, citing various reasons. On the one hand, there were the BJP’s welfare schemes, and on the other, there were the “DMK government’s scams and more scams”, he alleged.
Taking pride in the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Mr. Modi said that he had visited several important temples in Tamil Nadu before the event. However, the DMK government had attempted to stop the people from viewing the ceremony, for which it was criticised by the Supreme Court, he said. This made it clear that the DMK government was the enemy not only of the State’s future but also of its past and heritage, he said. “The DMK government does not have respect for our culture, tradition and our history,” he claimed, adding, “The
DMK even boycotted the ‘Sengol’, which was placed in the new Parliament building.”
“As long as I am here, I will protect the culture of Tamil Nadu,” Mr. Modi said.
The Prime Minister accused the INDIA bloc of playing with people’s lives. “But unlike them, I was not sleeping when Tamil Nadu fishermen were arrested by Sri Lanka and given prison sentences,” he said. Recalling various diplomatic steps he took to ensure the fishermen’s release, he said that he went all out to protect them and bring them back alive.
The BJP, he said, always stood for the welfare of women. The DMK government only knew how to play politics in the name of women, he claimed.
“I am deeply saddened to not have had an opportunity to learn Tamil. But as a solution to this, I will be speaking to Tamil people in their language through the ‘Namo in Tamil’ handle on the social media platform X, with the help of AI,” he said.
