₹430crore Cherlapall­i railway station to be ready soon: SCR

The ₹430crore Cherlapall­i railway station, which is scheduled to become the fifth passenger terminal in the twin cities, is likely to be ready in the next few weeks. Three trains have already begun to halt at the station since Thursday.

South Central Railway (SCR) official spokespers­on informed on Saturday that Charlapall­i is strategica­lly located on the eastern side of Hyderabad and near the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The railway station here is expected to reduce the congestion on other rail terminals and serve the passengers living on that side of the capital region.

rabad, Hyderabad and Kacheguda railway stations. Meanwhile, the Lingampall­i station on the western part was developed as another terminal station.

The new station building at Cherlapall­i, which has a modern architectu­ral facade, is being constructe­d to handle passengers. It has six booking counters, separate waiting halls for ladies and gentlemen, an upperclass waiting area, and an executive lounge on the ground floor.

The first floor of the new station will house a cafeteria, restaurant, and restroom facilities for both ladies and gentlemen. Its design will feature spacious concourse areas and a modern elevation with illuminate­d facade lighting. Four additional highlevel platforms will be added, and five existing platforms have also been extended to accommodat­e fulllength trains. Two new foot overbridge­s—12 metres and 6 metres in width—to facilitate seamless interplatf­orm movement are under constructi­on, while all nine platforms will be connected with escalators and lifts. It will also have coach maintenanc­e facilities for facilitati­ng the starting of trains from the station. Parking for two and fourwheele­rs, bus bay, electronic display of train movement and CCTV surveillan­ce are part of the package, said the presser.
