YMCA Secunderabad enters the semifinals
YMCA Secunderabad scored a 6836 win (HT: 3721) over Loyola Academy in the super league to make the semifinals of the Samuel Vasanth Kumar memorial floodlit basketball tournament at YMCA Secunderabad here on Tuesday.
Vivek stole the thunder for the host, his drivein shooting facing little resistance as he weaved his way in and out of the rival’s citadel as and when he wanted to.
The highspeed contest, though onesided, saw a flurry of fast breaks from both teams but early zeal from the college squad waned over time. Complementing Vivek’s efforts was Rohan while for Loyola, Majid found the mark from outside the arc twice, supplemented by a threepointer each from Vignesh and Steve. On Monday night, Dream Basketball Academy withdrew from the tournament, after WE3 protested the presence of a guest player in the former’s squad in violation of the rules. The protest was upheld and a walkover was awarded to WE3.
The scores: YMCA Secunderabad 68 (Vivek 31, Rohan 17) bt Loyola Academy 36 (Vignesh 12, Majid 12).
