BJP sets up farmers’ grievance cell at State headquarters

-

The Telangana BJP has announced the formation of a farmers’ grievance cell in its State office where the latter’s grievances or any kind of issues with regard to agriculture or farming can be registered from across the districts on Monday.

Party president and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has appealed to the farmers not to resort to any extreme steps but to dial the party office which will highlight and take up the complaint to the authorities concerned for redressal. Issues like procurement, farm insurance, supply of seeds or spurious seeds distribution, availability of fertilizer, pressure from the bankers for repayment of loans and so on can be brought to the cell’s notice by a missed call to 9904 119 119. Addressing a protest programme organised at the party office, the BJP leader has implored the farmers to question the Congress leaders about the nonimplementation of the assurances made before the Assembly elections and on the fresh guarantees being announced by the ruling party before the Parliament polls. He demanded that the government immediately start paying the

Party to highlight the issues and take up complaints to the authorities concerned for redressal

promised hiked financial assistance to the farmers including tenant farmers and labour between ₹12,000 ₹15,000 plus the ₹500 bonus per quintal for the paddy crop.

The State president claimed that the Modi government had initiated several welfare measures for the farmers and wanted the State government to see that the farm insurance scheme funds are disbursed properly. The Centre bears the entire expenditure for the procurement process from the farmers till the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godowns.

Party electionin charge and Karnataka MLA Abhay Patil said the government has been caught napping in providing succour to the farmers reeling under drought like conditions and claimed that he only saw distress in the agriculture community during his district tours. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sends money to the ‘high command’ but has no money for the farmers, he alleged.
