MChhangte’s strike closed the doors on a Goa comeback. umbai City FC downed FC Goa 2-0 (5-2 on aggregate) in the second leg of the ISL 10 seminal at the Mumbai Football Arena on Monday.

MCFC, which was already ahead by a goal coming into the match, sealed the tie after forward Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Lallianzuala Chhangte found the net in the 69th and 83rd minute respectively.

Goa started the game aggressively, pushing its players high up while the home team was happy to sit back and operate solely on counter-attacks.

Although Goa dominated the rst half, it was MCFC that came close to bulging the net but was stopped by the post twice.

Once oœ of Tiri’s nearpost header in the 22nd minute, and the second time in the 34th, when Chhangte’s curling eœort from the right struck the far post.

Goa was pushing ahead as Noah Sadaoui and Udanta Singh ran riot on the ¡anks.

However, the Gaurs failed to create good chances on goal when it came to the nal third.

The opener

Diaz scored the opener after a corner kick was met by Rahul Bheke’s header and although it was stopped by the keeper, the ball landed straight onto the goalscorer’s foot as he tapped it in without fail.

Later, Goa lost possession after a corner-kick as MCFC’s Vikram Partap Singh launched a counter on the left ¡ank with a perfectly weighed throughball to Chhangte behind the defence.

The winger dribbled past the keeper and passed it into an empty net.
