Congress is tryingndto terrify its own country, harm people’s spirit: PM

- Satyasundar Barik

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday slammed the grand old party and accused the mindset of the Congress tries to terrify its own country.

“The Atal Bihari Vajpayee government had conducted a nuclear test in Pokhran. I remember when nuclear test was carried out, the Indian community settled across the globe felt proud and for the †rst time, people started to look at India with respect,” Mr. Modi remarked while addressing a public meeting in Kandhamal district.

“On the other hand, the mindset of Congress tries to terrify its own country. Congress cautions that Pakistan

has atom bomb. These scared people hurt the country’s spirit. It has always been nature of Congress,” Mr. Modi asserted.

Attacking the Congress, Mr. Modi said, “It was this weakness of Congress for which the people of Kashmir suœered from terrorism for 60 years. India should never forget that instead

of teaching terrorists a lesson, these people [Congress] were holding meetings with terror organisations.”

Mr. Modi, “After the 26/ 11 Mumbai attack, they [Congress] could not muster the courage to take action against patrons of the terrorists. Congress and the INDIA bloc thought if action is taken against terrorist organisations, their vote-bank would get angry.”

Attack on Patnaik

Throwing his weight behind the BJP’s push for change in regime in Odisha, Mr. Modi also launched a frontal attack daring Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to name districts and their headquarters towns without reading out from the paper.

“Can the Chief Minister understand your distress who cannot even name districts without paper? Can you trust him for the children’s future?” he asked. He raked up this issue as State BJP leaders were critical of the Odisha CM’s ‘struggle’ to deliver extempore speeches.
