Vaishnaw unveils Vande Bharat’s carbody structure in sleeper tech boost
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled the carbody structure of Vande Bharat’s sleeper trainset being manufactured by BEML.
The first Vande Bharat sleeper will be unveiled in the next five to six months. It will come equipped with advanced features such as special roofing, enhanced airconditioning, virus control mechanisms, reduced jerks, noise and vibrations.
BEML operates under the Ministry of Defence and specialises in manufacturing products for a diverse range of sectors, including defence, aerospace, mining, construction, rail, and metro systems.
Making trainsets
Additionally, it has secured orders to produce 10 trainsets comprising 160 coaches each for the Vande Bharat Sleeper project.
The Minister also commissioned the India Validation Centre (IVC) at Applied Materials India. The Centre marks the next step in the company’s journey of enabling the semiconductor ecosystem in India.
New capabilities
Built with the highest safety standards, the IVC enables early pilots, talent and capability development for the upcoming India Collaborative Engineering Centre, including validation, process engineering, lab management and collaboration with academia and suppliers.
The IVC adds new capabilities to enable endtoend design, characterisation and qualification of semiconductor equipment. “The India Validation Centre is a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of our approach to build India’s resilience in chip manufacturing and Applied Materials has been a trusted partner in enabling the Indian semiconductor dream,” the Minister said.
“We believe this is India’s time to shine, and Applied Materials’ India Validation Centre is one of the many milestones in our innovation journey,” said Prabu Raja, President of the Semiconductor Products Group at Applied Materials.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday also hailed Nivetti Systems for the indigenouslydeveloped 2.4 tbps router.
He termed it a momentous achievement for the country.
“I came to Bengaluru for a very special purpose. First indigenouslydeveloped 2.4 tbps router. It’s not a very small thing. It’s really a momentous achievement for our country,” Mr. Vaishnaw, who holds the Electronics, Communication, Information Technology and Railways portfolios, said at the unveiling here.
“This is indeed a very big milestone that we have achieved,” he noted.
He wished thousands of these products are installed in the coming months in the country and Nivetti 2.4 tbps becomes a product which is exported to the world.
Terabytes per second (TBps) is data transmission rate equivalent to 1,000 gigabytes, or one lakh crore bytes per second.
According to Mr. Vaishnaw, a router is a kind of device which gets lots of information and data from various sources and it processes it properly and disseminates in the appropriate destination.
“Router is a digital postman, which delivers the information to the right receptor from one end to an another,” the Minister added.
