Stalin daydreaming about winning this election: EPS
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday said DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was at the height of “vanity” and “unjustified pride” with the claim that the DMK’s alliance was strong, while the AIADMKled alliance was weak. The results of the Lok Sabha elections on June 4 would reveal the winner, he said.
Addressing a public meeting for canvassing votes for AIADMK’s Kallakurichi candidate R. Kumaraguru, he said that, unlike the DMK, his party dependent on people and not on alliance strength. Mr. Stalin was indulging in a pipe dream and his assumptions would be disproved during the results, he said.
Launching a scathing attack on the Chief Minister, he said the DMK government had done nothing in the last three years to claim credit.
According to him, law and order had collapsed in the State, ganja and drugs were freely available and the government was softpedalling the issue.
Mr. Palaniswami said the decadelong AIADMK rule was not dark, as claimed by the Chief Minister, but a “people’s government.”
He called upon the people to use their vote to defeat the DMK, which, according to him, was responsible for the prevailing “law and order situation” and “administrative misdeeds, losing State’s rights, and the circulation of banned drugs.”
Earlier, campaigning for Mr. Kumaraguru at Attur in Salem district, Mr. Palaniswami alleged that the DMK had triggered the violence in Thoothukudi in 2018 during the antiSterlite protests.
Further, in an indirect jibe at BJP State president K. Annamalai, he said that “some people, who had not even completed five years in politics, were saying that they would destroy the AIADMK”.
