INDIA bloc will form next government at the Centre, asserts Tejashwi

The RJD leader says BJP leaders going into ‘depression’ after conclusion of second phase of polls; accuses PM of shying away from real issues and not sharing ‘vision for Bihar’ for next ‰ve years

- Amit Bhelari

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday claimed that Indian National Developmental, Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc is well poised to form the next government at the Centre with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) going into “depression” after the second phase of polling.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the RJD leader asserted that BJP’s “400 ‡lm” [referring to the slogan ‘Abki Baar Chaar Sau Paar’] has come a cropper.

“The second phase of polling ended yesterday [Friday] and the BJP leaders are in a big depression now. People of all sections now believe that until the PM Narendra Modi is there, getting employment is tough, controlling in•ation is tough, eliminating poverty is tough and it’s hard to talk about real issues,” Mr. Yadav said in Patna while speaking to the media outside 10, Circular Road, the o™cial residence of former Chief Minister

Rabri Devi.

‘Slogan forgotten’

Taking a dig at Mr. Modi’s visit to the State on Friday, the former Deputy CM said the PM addressed two public meetings but did not talk about his work over the last 10 years in power and shared no vision for Bihar for the next ‡ve years despite the State electing 39 parliamentarians from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the 2019 general election.

“For the last 10 years, the Prime Minister has been telling so many lies that people are no longer going to trust him. Modiji has now forgotten the slogan of Chaar Sau Paar after the second phase of polling. In the ‡rst phase itself, the BJP’s 400 ‡lm became a super •op and in the second phase, the ‡lm did not go up on the screen itself. Everyone is assured now that the INDIA alliance is going to form the government in the country,” Mr. Yadav said.

Earlier in the day, RJD chief Lalu Prasad accused Mr. Modi of intending to change the Constitution, an accusation he has made in the past as well. “Why do the BJP, Modi government and BJP leaders hate the country’s most sacred book, the Constitution, written by Baba Saheb Ambedkar? Why does the Modi government want to end jobs, democracy, Constitution and reservation given to Dalits, backward, poor, and deprived people? Answer it,” Mr. Prasad wrote in a post on ◣ (formerly Twitter).

The Prime Minister, in various campaign rallies, has denied this charge and said even the architect of the Constitution, Dr. Ambedkar, could not change it were he alive today.
