Gil scores the winner for Punjab FC

Punjab FC secured its fourth win in its last six matches of the Indian Super League (ISL) as it beat NorthEast United FC 10 on Thursday. A 63rdminute spotkick by Wilmar Jordan Gil ensured that the debutant moved to 20 points from 18 matches and was ninth in the standings.

The win kept the resurgent Punjab FC firmly in the race for the topsix. The team is just a point behind the sixthplace­d Bengaluru FC, having played the same number of games.

KSEB women keep winning

KSEB women defeated Central Railway 6254 in the second S. Balkar Singh Cheema memorial allIndia basketball tournament at Kapurthala on Thursday.

After its third straight win, the KSEB will face Eastern Railway for the title in the fiveteam round robin. In the men’s section, KSEB narrowly lost to Indian Bank 7779 and failed to make the semifinal from Group ‘B’.
