Thumping win for Shine’s CA

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shine’s CA scored an innings and onerun win over IOB RC in the TDCA A division cricket league here on Tuesday.

The highlight of Shine’s win was a century by Govind Dev Pai (116) which enabled his team to take a first innings lead of 143 runs.

IOB was dismissed for 142 in the second innings, giving Shine’s CA an innings victory.

In another A division match, Little Masters CC crushed Renji CC by an innings and six runs. TCU defeated Boys CC by fivewickets in B division. The scores:

A Division: IOB RC 171 in 69.3 overs (Ishaan M. Raj 52, Adit Eshwar 47, Ebin Antonio Jose 3/33) & 142 in 70.2 overs (Adit Eshwar 57, Ishaan M. Raj 30, N. Hrishikesh 4/31) lost to Shine’s CA 314/9 decl. in 51 overs (Govind Dev Pai 116, Afrad Nazar 53, Jobin P. Joby 61 Vishnu 3/47).

Renji CC 95 in 40.5 overs (Vinay V. Varghese 3/22, Edhen Apple Tom 3/27) & 197 in 58.4 overs (Athuljith M.Anu 37 n.o., Imran Ahammed 4/36) lost to Little Masters 298 in 60.4 overs (Imran Ahammed 69, S.S. Akshay 39, Bharath Soorya 35, A.K.Arjun 34, J. Ananthakrishnan 31, Ajmal 5/74).

B division: Boys CC 149 in 33 overs (K.Sooraj 4/32) lost to TCU 153/5 in 29 overs (M.M. Akhil 49, Abdul Nazeer 3/60).

Afsal’s century goes in vain

KOCHI: Afsal Ashraf’s century went in vain as defending champion Muthoot Microfin CC defeated Century CC by 34 runs in the Ernakulam District ADivision Cricket League which began at the St. Paul’s College ground, Kalamassery, on Tuesday. M. Hariharan and Sanjay Raj came up with half centuries for Microfin.

Volleyball selection trials

The trials to select players for the Muthoot Residential Volleyball Academy for the academic year 20242025 will be held at the SNV Sanskrit HSS, Nanthiattukunnam, North Paravur, on April 7. The trial is only for boys from classes 7 to 9 and selected players will be provided accommodation, food, education and sports kit free of cost by the academy which is run by the Muthoot Pappachan Group.
