Gujarat Titans impaired Lucknow Super Giants early in the PowerPlay and its spinners stifled the scoring in the middle overs until Nicholas Pooran (32 not out) broke free from the shackles to take the host to a competitiv­e total of 163 for five at the Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Sunday. Batting first after winning the toss, Super Giants were rocked early by Umesh Yadav, whose two wickets rattled the home side.

Umesh struck in the first over when Quinton de Kock, after a six over deep square leg, tried another big hit and got a leading edge which was snapped up by Noor Ahmad at third man. Devdutt Padikkal, after creaming Umesh over square leg, edged a catch to Vijay Shankar at the slips to leave Super Giants at 18 for two.
