Facile win helps Spurs move into fourth place

Tottenham Hotspur boosted its Champions League qualifying hopes with a 31 home win over relegation­battling Nottingham Forest on Sunday to move into fourth in the Premier League.

Secondhalf goals from Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro, after Forest’s Chris Wood had cancelled out Murillo’s own goal in the opening period, helped Spurs capitalise on rivals Aston Villa and Manchester United dropping points.

Sheffield holds Chelsea

In another match, Sheffield United’s striker Ollie McBurnie snatched a stoppagete­am equaliser to secure a 22 draw at home to Chelsea in its battle for

survival.

The Blades remain bottom of the table on 16 points and have seven games left to play, while Chelsea is ninth on 44 points after extending the unbeaten run to seven league games.

In Serie A, Juventus returned to winning ways after four league games without a victory thanks to a 10 home win over Fiorentina on Sunday to consolidat­e its hold on third place.
