Repair roads dug for drainage work

For the past couple of years, the underground drainage work has been going on across the city. But the roads dug up have not been repaired and relaid fully. Instead of relaying roads, which are already in good condition, the Corporation should focus on repairing roads which are in poor condition. The Wireless Road, Rajaram Road, K.K. Nagar, and Anbu Nagar Road in Crawford, Ramachandra Nagar Road in Edamalaipattipudur and Godown Road in Khajamalai are crying for immediate attention.

Extend underground drainage to Ward 25

While the inauguration of work to establish a sewage treatment plant at Panjapur in Tiruchi is a welcome move, I request the Minister for Municipal Administration to extend the underground drainage network to Ward 25 covering Shanmuga Nagar West.

Adoption of new technology at STP

I am glad as an environmental engineer that the new STP at Panjapur will adopt the sequencing batch reactor technology for second stage purification. This technology was evolved after long years of research. It can be used to treat city wastewater. The treated water can be used for irrigation and groundwater recharging. T.M. Ranganathan

Provide space for walkers on new bridges

The proposal to build a parallel bridge across the Cauvery will ease traffic congestion. Already the existing bridge is attracting numerous evening walkers and vendors are doing brisk business. The authorities should consider developing a dedicated space between the two bridges for people to go for walks and spend their leisure time. The place surely has the potential to develop into a popular hangout.

Run Tiruchi-Bengaluru superfast day train

I request the Southern Railway to coordinate with SouthWestern Railway and introduce a new superfast express between Tiruchi and Bengaluru. The train can ideally leave Tiruchi early in the morning and reach

Bengaluru by afternoon. Sankar Venkatesh

Unfair on commuters from Tiruchi, Thanjavur

The extension of MayiladuthuraiMysuru Express upto Cuddalore Port Junction is not just a surprise, but an injustice to Tiruchi and Thanjavur commuters. The train is already overcrowded and it is very difficult to get accommodation in it. The railways can introduce a new train from Mayiladuthurai to Mysuru via Cuddalore, Vriddhchalam and Salem. The long pending demand for a day time train from Tiruchi to Bengaluru is yet to be fulfilled. The railways claims that there is no platform to accommodate the new train at Bengaluru but surprisingly many new trains are being introduced from various other places to the city, except Tiruchi.

Footboard travelling rampant in buses

The practice of students travelling precariously on the footsteps of buses poses a serious threat to their safety. I urge the authorities to increase the frequency of bus services during peak hours to reduce overcrowding; implement stricter regulations on the maximum capacity of buses to prevent unsafe travel; raise awareness among students about the dangers of footboard travelling and encourage them to wait for the next available bus and collaborate with schools and parents to promote a safer commute for students. The safety and wellbeing of our students are paramount.

Launch enrolment drive for govt. schools

I appreciate the Chief Minister and the State government to introduce the muchneeded breakfast scheme in primary schools. A lot of parents even in rural areas rush to admit their wards in private convents despite the high fees due to peer pressure and false prestige. I request the Chief Minister to start a campaign to increase enrolment in government primary schools in rural areas by educating people about the benefits offered. N.V. Thiyagarajan
