Decorative props

Among the decorative props that are to be installed are gabion sculptures – wire baskets ’lled with rocks resembling objects, people or animals.

This year, horticulture o‹cials had decided to install the gabion sculptures in time for the ™ower show. However, due to the announcement of the rose show, they would ’rst be used at GRG and then sent back to GBG, where they would be transformed into topiaries, o‹cials said.

Due to a water shortage, Horticulture Department o‹cials have been struggling to ’nd water delivery services to maintain the garden’s greenery till the start of the summer festival shows.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Water Resources Duraimurugan on Wednesday said that the State government would approach the Supreme Court on the issue of Karnataka’s refusal to release Cauvery water.

‘No change in stance’

“Their [the Karnataka government’s] stance of refusing to release water has not changed irrespective of whether they have had adequate water or not,” Mr. Duraimurugan said, addressing the media in Chennai.

“They are refusing to release water in spite of the directions from the Cauvery Water Management Authority to do so. Karnataka is not respecting the Central government’s directive. The Supreme Court should question them, and we will move the top court,” Mr. Duraimurugan said.
