Congress leader Rahul Gandhi intensied his attack on the BJP and RSS and accused them of trying to undermine the Constitution. He made it clear that the Congress, with the support of people of the country, would protect the Constitution at any cost.

‘No harm’

Addressing two public meetings in Hyderabad and Medak district in Telangana on Thursday, Mr. Gandhi emphasised the ‘resilience’ of the Indian Constitution, saying that “it cannot be harmed by any force in the world”.

the Constitution unequivocally, and labelled it as the collective voice and essence of the nation.

Re«ecting on the monumental e¨orts of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and B.R. Ambedkar in drafting the Constitution, he highlighted its signicance in providing reservations

and empowering the economically disadvantaged. He underscored that the Constitution transcends from being merely a document to symbolising the aspirations and rights of the populace.

At the poll rally in Medak, he blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for unemployment in India, and promised that an INDIA bloc government would initiate recruitment drives to ll over 30 lakh vacancies in private and public sectors by August 15. Also, he proposed a substantial annual deposit of ₹1 lakh into the bank accounts of women.

Ambani-Adani ties

He also accused the BJP government of favouring industrialists such as Ambani and Adani, alleging that demonetisation primarily beneted the latter.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy demanded the expulsion of BJP leader Navneet Rana for her disparaging remarks against minorities, accusing the BJP of exploiting communal issues for political gains.

Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah said on Thursday that the Lok Sabha election this time is between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi or a “vote for jihad” versus a “vote for development”.

“This is an election being fought between those for uplift of family politics and those for progress of people of the country. Mr. Modi’s guarantees mean he will do it, whereas Rahul Gandhi’s guarantees will end at the sunset,” he remarked.

Addressing a public meeting in Bhongir, Mr. Shah accused the Congress of ‘peddling lies’ about the Modi government removing reservations once it returns

to power, and said that despite enjoying a full majority, his government did nothing of that sort in the last two terms.

But, “in Telangana, the Congress has given 4% quota to Muslims cutting away the share of the SCs/ STs/BCs. The BJP will end the Muslim quota and share it with the marginalised sections once it comes

to power in the State,” he asserted. The BJP leader also said that the ‘ABC troika’ — Asaduddin Owaisi, BRS and the Congress Party — practise ‘appeasement politics’, “refuse permit for Ram Navami procession, not celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day and oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA)”.

“Can the Congress Party and BRS control Mr. Owaisi?,” he questioned and charged that these parties wished to run Telangana per the “Shariah and Koran”. The parties had even boycotted the Ram Mandir ceremony, he said.

Taking Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s name, Mr. Shah claimed that the sa¨ron party is sure to win 10 seats with the Congress government failing to take up farm loan waiver, provide ₹15,000 for farmers, give ₹500 bonus per quintal for paddy crop, and grant student loans.

In comparison, Mr. Modi had removed legal obstacles for the construction of the Ram Temple, and Article 370 was abrogated making Kashmir “ours”, while terrorism and naxalism were “banished” from the country.
