APSRTC achieves five nationalle­vel awards

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporatio­n (APSRTC) bagged five nationalle­vel awards for 202223. The Associatio­n of State Road Transport Undertakin­gs (ASRTU), the apex body of public transport undertakin­gs under the Ministry of Roads Transport and Highways (MoRTH) presented the awards in recognitio­n of the APSRTC’s performanc­e in five different categories.

In a statement on Friday, the Corporatio­n’s Chief Engineer (IT) V. Sudhakar said the categories include ‘Technology Adoption’ for providing customers with cashless and paperless ticket facility and enabling digital ticketing inside the bus and integratin­g it with tracking for all buses., ‘Fuel efficiency’ for achieving highest mileage in the category of organisati­ons with 4,0007,500 rural operation buses, ‘Non Ticket Revenue’ for realising recordbrea­king revenues in nonticket revenue streams by effectivel­y leveraging the potential for cargo and parcel services using passenger buses, ‘Employee Welfare’ for providing insurance coverage of ₹1 crore in case of accidents and ₹5 lakh in case of natural death for all employees irrespecti­ve of cadre and rank and for developing and implementi­ng the unique service delivery platform for all citizencen­tric services, the first of its kind in the country. He said another feather in the cap is that all the awards are for standing first in each category.

ViceChairm­an and Managing Director of APSRTC, Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao, who received the awards along with a team of officials, at a function held in Delhi, attributed the achievemen­t to the committed and discipline­d efforts of the 50,000strong workforce of the APSRTC and the patronage of the 40lakh daily travellers on APSRTC buses.

Mr. Tirumala Rao expressed his appreciati­on for all the staff and officers for creating a model for the entire nation in the realm of public transport. He further added that these awards will give further impetus to the APSRTC to raise the bar in performanc­e and provide better service to its customers.
