YSRCP lodges complaint with ECI against ‘instigative statements’ by TDP
Describing the stone pelting on Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as a “preplanned attack”, the YSRCP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), urging it to give directions to TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu and his party to refrain from making “instigative statements” over the incident.
Addressing the media at the party office at Tadepalli on April 14 (Sunday), YSRCP State general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that stone pelting was a “cowardly act”, alleging that the opposition parties have grown intolerant of Mr. Jagan Mohan reddy’s charisma.
“It is unfortunate that the opposition parties called the incident a staged drama. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy is safe because of the blessings of the almighty. Why would any person get himself hurt in the eyes?” he asked.
Referring to the Maoist attack on Mr. Naidu at Alipiri in 2003 when he was the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Mr.
Ramakrishna Reddy said, ”Did anyone call Alipiri incident a drama then? Then Leader of Opposition Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy expressed solidarity with Mr. Naidu by staging a silent protest in Tirupati. However, Mr. Naidu went for early polls in 2004 to garner sympathy votes. In fact, Mr. Naidu is adept at enacting dramas.”
Mr. Ramakrishna Reddy doubted that the TDP leaders were behind the incident. “The TDP and its alliance partners are in trouble because of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bus yatra. They are unable to digest the public support for the YSRCP. Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy is a not person to get scared by such incidents,” he said.
