Govt. needed to put State back on track: Purandeswari

-

Nara Bhuvaneswari on Friday led the nomination papers on behalf of her husband and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu in Kuppam.

After ling the nomination, Ms. Bhuvaneswari appealed to the people to not allow any other party ¦ag ¦utter in Kuppam.

“Only the ¦ag of the TDP should ¦utter in the Kuppam Assembly constituency,“Ms. Bhuvaneswari said. The TDP, since its formation in 1982, had been winning from this seat consistently, and no one else should dare challenge it in its stronghold, she observed. Ms. Bhuvaneswari highlighted Mr. Naidu’s relentless e¡orts to ensure the welfare of the people during the TDP term.

“That’s what true leadership entails,“she said, and alleged that several party activists had been killed by the YSRCP cadre, and everyone was aware of the bad administration in the State. “We will defeat the devils and demons, and establish our government. We are gearing up for the Kurukshetra war on May 13. The vote is our weapon and we must overthrow this demonic government using it,” she added.

Later, addressing the TDP cadre in the evening, Ms. Bhuvaneswari said they should be alert to the vile designs of the YSRCP cadre. She appealed to the cadre to reach out to every household in Kuppam and highlight the need for giving a thumping majority to Mr. Naidu.

“The coalition government will stand by all sections of people and adhere to the Super Six schemes,” she added.

BJP State president D. Purandeswari on Friday led her nomination papers before Returning O cer and East Godavari district Collector K. Madhavilatha for Rajamahendravaram Lok Sabha constituency.

She was accompanied by Union Minister V.K. Singh and former BJP State president Somu Veerraju.

Ms. Purandeswari is in the fray against YSRCP candidate Dr. Guduri Srinivas.

Addressing the media later, Ms. Purandeswari alleged that the YSRCP ignored the maintenance of the Sir Arthur Cotton barrage across the Godavari and cleaning of the river Godavari in Rajamahendravaram. “The Centre has given ₹57 crore for cleaning the Godavari in Rajamahendravaram city. It has not been done so far. The expert team has estimated that ₹60 crore is required for undertaking repairs to the barrage at Dowleswaram. It has also been kept aside,“she alleged. “Sitting MP Margani Bharat has promised to develop the Havelock bridge of the Indian Railways into a walkers’ bridge. The promise remains on paper,” she said. She further alleged that illegal exploration of sand along the Godavari river bed posed a major threat to the roadcum-rail bridge in the city. “In 2024, the BJP-led NDA government will retain power at the Centre. In Andhra Pradesh, the BJPTDP-JSP alliance needs to be elected to have a ‘double engine’ government in the State and at the Centre to bring Andhra Pradesh back on track,” Ms. Purandeswari said. She observed that A.P. remained a State that had no capital. She alleged that the NCRB ¦agged the alarming rise in crimes against women in Andhra Pradesh.
