Nomination­s invited for awards


CHENNAI: Nomination­s are invited for the CavinKare Ability Awards 2016, which are aimed at creating awareness on the latent talents of people with disabiliti­es, showcasing their achievemen­ts and challengin­g stereotypi­cal perception­s.

The awards, jointly organised by FMCG company, CavinKare and cross disability NGO Ability Foundation, were introduced in 2003. This is the 14th edition of these awards, a note from the organisers said.

A total of four awards in two categories will be presented in February 2016 in Chennai. The CavinKare Ability Award for Eminence is a single award given to one person with a disability for their exemplary achievemen­t in not just overcoming great odds but also contributi­ng significan­tly to society by initiating an organisati­on of his/her own. The award caries a citation, trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh.

The CavinKare Ability Mastery Awards are given to three individual­s with disabiliti­es in recognitio­n of their extraordin­ary achievemen­t in any field of their choice. The award carries a citation, a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh each.

Any Indian national who has a disability as per the persons with Disabiliti­es Act, 1995 and has done exceptiona­l work in her chosen field is eligible to apply.
